THE MEN'S PROGRAM

Creating the space to think, feel and make sense of things

Much has been written about the changing nature of "what it means to be a man". In the modern day the notion of what this means has become more complex and at some times bewildering. Whether this is struggling to understand your relationship to toxic masculinity or understand and shape your positive role as a father, brother, friend, husband, partner - it is hard to know where to start.

To make it harder - men are often not taught a reflective or emotional language to face into such hard issues. The result can be a withdrawal  - which solves nothing. Without a language and a voice we can not start to resolve complex challenges - like identity and men's role in shaping a more inclusive and safer society for all people.

Without the right environment to think and speak men can fall into the "tragic gap" - between the hard realities of what we see and what we know is possible.

But sometimes it's not about tackling the big, society level issues. Sometimes it's just about finding a space to be with and speak to others who share similar experiences.

The program is designed for men who want the time space and support to reflect, energise and gain clarity.

It is a chance to reconnect with what is important, reflect on issues and regain a sense of identity, optimism and momentum.

Like the main program the program consists of three main phases:

  1. Pre-Journey Online Sessions: A series of four evening sessions prior to the outdoor experience. This is an engaging blend of framing, discussion, reflection and sharing. The idea is to help you frame up your own personal goal or objective for the program.

  2. The Journey: An utterly unforgettable experience of journeying along sections of the great Ocean Walk in Victoria. This is a fully supported outdoor expedition, on track, with one night camping and one night in accommodation at Cape Otway lighthouse.

  3. Follow up Session: An online workshop several weeks after returning from expedition. Designed to reconnect you to the experience and learning of the program and check in.
